Upcoming Sunset of Clearbit’s Free Logo API

In December 2023, Clearbit was acquired by HubSpot, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for both companies. Since then, the Clearbit team has fully integrated into HubSpot, combining our expertise with HubSpot’s resources to better serve our customers. A key milestone of this collaboration was the launch of Breeze Intelligence at INBOUND 2024—a powerful new tool that underscores our commitment to innovation and delivering high-value solutions.

As part of this transition, we have made the difficult decision to deprecate and sunset the Clearbit Logo API (logo.clearbit.com). While this free service has been widely used for many years, we are focusing our efforts on building solutions that align with our long-term vision.

Deprecation and Sunset Timeline

  • Deprecation Notice: Effective today, the Clearbit Logo API (logo.clearbit.com) is officially deprecated. While the service will continue to function for now, we recommend users start migrating to an alternative.
  • End of Service: The API will shut down on December 1, 2025. After the service is shut down, requests to logo.clearbit.com will fail to connect and no logos will be returned.

A Recommended Alternative

To help users transition smoothly, we recommend logo.dev, a free and high-quality logo-fetching service based on domain names. logo.dev offers a seamless migration path for users of logo.clearbit.com and provides a migration guide to simplify the transition.

You'll need to sign up for a free account at https://www.logo.dev/ to get an API key for your site.

For basic replacement functionality, replace the domain in the image src parameter, changing from:

To:

If you use the free service, you need to update your attribution link:

For more information and step-by-step instructions on updating your integration, visit the logo.dev migration guide.

Next Steps

To ensure continuity in your operations, we encourage you to take the following actions:

  1. Review Your Dependencies – Identify where the Clearbit Logo API (logo.clearbit.com) is used in your applications, websites, or workflows.
  2. Migrate to logo.dev or another alternative logo service – Follow the migration guide to update your integration and maintain uninterrupted access to company logos.
  3. Test and Validate – Once migrated, verify that your implementation functions as expected before the sunset date.

Thank You

We deeply appreciate the many developers, businesses, and teams who have used the Clearbit Logo API over the years. We understand that changes like this can be disruptive, and we’re committed to providing ample time and resources to support your transition.

LogoKit is another excellent alternative worth considering

While logo.dev is a solid recommendation, I'd also suggest checking out LogoKit as an alternative to the Clearbit Logo API - https://logokit.com/

Key benefits:
- Superior stock coverage: 50M+ logos including all major exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ, TSE, LSE, SZSE, Euronext, Deutsche Boerse) plus ETFs and crypto - something Clearbit never offered
- Generous free tier: 5,000 requests/day with no credit card required
- Simple migration: Just replace logo.clearbit.com with img.logokit.com + your API token
- Fast performance: <100ms response times globally via Cloudflare CDN
- Additional features: Brand Data API, intelligent fallbacks, and size parameters

For developers building fintech/trading apps or any application needing comprehensive stock market logo coverage, LogoKit is particularly strong in this area compared to other alternatives.

They have a detailed migration guide specifically for Clearbit users: https://logokit.com/migrate-from-clearbit

Both LogoKit and logo.dev are solid choices - just wanted to share another option for the community! 🚀

Hi everyone, Alex here, from Logo.dev.

For those migrating from Clearbit’s Logo API, we have created a dedicated guide to make the process simple. Our API is a direct, one-to-one replacement. Just swap your Clearbit URL with your Logo.dev and add your token. Whole process should take a few minutes and avoid any interruption in serving logo images on your website or app.

👉 Migration guide: docs.logo.dev/migrations/clearbit

Why developers choose logo.dev:

  • Built by the original Clearbit Logo API team, with the same simplicity you already know

  • Trusted by tens of thousands of developers at companies like Linear, Perplexity, and Okta

  • HubSpot’s official migration partner, ensuring reliable continuity

  • One-to-one compatibility with full parameter support

  • Hundreds of millions of domains with daily updates, focused on accuracy and coverage

We recommend migrating as soon as possible. It only takes a few minutes, and our team is here if you need support with the migration.
