Hi. I’m not sure if this is the right place to drop this support question, but am hoping someone can help me. I have just started a new HS account for a client, and still on freemium while I set up (then will upgrade). I am loading a csv of 900 contacts into the import, and everytime I try it says I have exceeded 1000 contact limit? I have checked and the other rows below 900 are all definitely empty. Any help appreciated - I know this is not quite a development question!
I ran into this before — HubSpot’s free plan only allows up to 1,000 contacts, and it often counts hidden or blank rows in your CSV as extra contacts. Try cleaning the file by deleting all empty rows and saving it again, or split it into smaller batches to upload. Also, make sure to import them as non-marketing contacts if you just want to store them. That usually fixes it!
Hi @SarahSutton! Welcome to the Community-- happy to have you here 😊
You can collectup to one thousand non-marketing contacts using HubSpot’s free marketing tools and HubSpot CRM at no cost. Do you have any existing contacts in your CRM? You may need to make sure there are less than 100 existing contacts.
If you don't have any contacts, maybe try copying the data into a fresh spreadsheet and importing that. Sometimes there is invisible formatting that can cause errors on import.
Let me know if I did not understand your questions or if you need additional clarification!
Best, Kennedy

Hey @SarahSutton! Could you navigate to the CRM tab on the left > then to Contacts > and look at the total # of contacts in your CRM? This should show you the current contacts total so you can see how many you have left to import out of 1,000.
