How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

Lesson 5_Systems Management for RevOps.png

You've probably heard it said a million times that data-driven decisions are the best decisions. However, creating and keeping good data isn’t always an easy thing to come by.

There are three main areas you need to invest in if you're going to have good data: process definition, data governance, and tech stack management.

Here’s what I’d love to hear from you:

  1. How do YOU define process definition?
  2. How do YOU define data governance?
  3. How do YOU define tech stack management?

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

To me, process definition is about creating clear, repeatable workflows that standardize how data is generated, captured, and updated. It ensures consistency across teams and touchpoints, reducing ambiguity and enabling scalability. Without well-defined processes, even the best tools won’t produce reliable data.

Data governance is the framework that ensures data integrity, quality, privacy, and compliance. It includes setting roles, responsibilities, and rules for how data is managed throughout its lifecycle. Good governance helps create trust in the data — both internally and externally — and supports better decision-making at all levels.

Tech stack management is about aligning the right tools to your business processes — and making sure they integrate well. It also involves ongoing evaluation to avoid redundancy, ensure adoption, and optimize performance. A well-managed tech stack helps reduce data silos and ensures that the right data is available to the right people at the right time.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1) Our RevOps depend on clearly defined processes and organized lead data to accurately place contacts in the appropriate funnel and stage. To support this, we must define the data used to assess buyer intent and align our tools with a well-understood process. 2) Data governance ensures strict standards for data collection, sourcing, and handling. For example, a data dictionary defines field requirements for leads and contact records, enabling consistent interpretation and meaningful analysis. 3) Tech stack management supports the lead processing model by ensuring tools are aligned with and effectively drive the business’s strategic goals.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

In the case of data management, processes are all the steps to get the right information efficiently.  Data Governance is similar to data administration. Tech stack management involves the technical resources (data analysts, developers, programmers).

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1. Process definition is being able to articulate the buyer journey story and create "phases" or steps for them to go through before, during, and after the buying journey begins and ends.

2. I define data governance to be the way your company has decided to ask for, collect, store, use and protect data. This can be reflected, but is not limited to a framework or a system of frameworks that the data goes through before it can be used.

3. Tech stack management is the maintenance and operation of the system or systems your team/company uses to perform their work. This includes software and data that interacts or is plugged in to other software (platforms) for a specific output.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

  1. How do YOU define process definition? Exploring, testing, agreeing upon and implementing all series of systems involved in your ideal buyer journey, including phases before the buyer journey and afterward, closing the loop.
  2. How do YOU define data governance? Keeping data as thorough but targeted/minimal as possible as well as keeping clearly defined data
  3. How do YOU define tech stack management? Marie Kondo. Keep what is necessary and shed the rest.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

  1. Process Definition: is the identification and clear documentation of the operational steps that guide a business activity. It includes describing workflows, defining team responsibilities, and outlining specific objectives, ensuring everyone follows standardized procedures to improve efficiency, consistency, and measurable outcomes.
  2. Data Governance: is the set of rules, policies, and procedures that ensure the integrity, security, and accuracy of data across the organization. Effective data governance manages access, reduces errors, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports strategic decision-making based on reliable information.
  3. Tech Stack Management: is the strategic oversight of the technological tools used by the company. It involves selecting, integrating, and optimizing software to ensure each technology supports business processes, enhances customer experience, and contributes to growth objectives while minimizing complexity and costs.

How do YOU define process definition, data governance, and tech stack management?

1. Process Definition: It can be define as the strategy put in place for the whole company towards agreeing, how to measure the success, manage the customers and revenue accross all of the stages that they need to go through. If processes aren't well defined, it can mean accelerating in the wrong direction.

2. Data Governance: It can be define as an internal framework that manages the availability, usability, integrity & security of data and that establishes data standards & policies that control access to data.

In summary, Data Governance means what kind of framework to put in place to make sure the data is clean and trusted at the end of the day.

3. Tech Stack Management can be described as a way of tracking leads and opportunities. It helps to create visibility into how data and revenue moves through the organization.
