Last Updated note or Most recent

Hello,

We are currently trying to create a report that list contacts as well as most recent note  for each contact. However when i create this report its pulling all associated notes  for the contact list. Is there a way to show only the most recent note and have this reflected in the report? I was thinking to pull the notes from this week only but some contacts may have multiple notes in a day etc. IS there a workaround for this? having the duplicate contact names on the report is causing some confusion
