How do I exclude company contacts from historic tracking when filling out a form?

SOLVE

We are currently using a sample ordering form on our website. When a contact completes the form, we get their historic journey.

Our internal sales will sometimes complete a sample order form for our customers / new contacts, but we will then get the tracking activity of the internal sales person which is unnecessary data for us.

Is there a way I can exclude the internal contacts from being tracked after form submission?

No. The forms were not designed to be submitted by someone other than the submitter, and most of this has to do with GDPR opt in and you cannot check a box for someone else. They must take an action to be opted in.

While in your case, this does not have to do with GDPR or opt in mechanics, the Hubspot cookie is designed to track your end users and not internal users. You could try to have them open up incognito windows to prevent cookies from being set, but that will just create more friction in the process.

Personally speaking, I would just look to create a separate form on the reps side vs. the contacts side. But if you want to track someone's history, you could create two forms, the first to just capture their email and the history. Then a second to either do a walkthrough of a sample with a rep or have the individual complete it themselves as a second submission. This way you get history regardless of whether they are able to do the sample form themselves.

Just to add to Ben's point, I would advise having your internal users use the forms standalone page and not a form embedded on your website. The standalone page has a completely different URL and thus, a different cookie. So if your reps submit on the standalone page their cookie (and analytics) will not track for those users across your website. Meaning your reps could submit this form for a customer without affecting their web analytics or personalization across your website.
