Editing personal view of records (left side bar)

SOLVE

Hi,

I am a bit confused. I am trying to give my users the ability to edit their own personal views of records. But I cannot seem to do so without giving them access to editing the view of records for EVERYONE on their team.

So we have multiple BU's and I've created custom views for each BU. However, I want users to be able to modify these views for themselves. For instance, maybe one user wants certain properties higher on the list but another user wants those properties lower on the list.

I could have sworn this was an option just a few months ago so I'm unsure what has changed. Previously, folks could edit their views for themselves and no one else.

Can someone help me understand whats happening?

@Vasiki would this permission setting for the particular user be the setting you are looking for - Customize record page layout? Or is this for something else?

Figured out the issue. The property view customization only applies to the default card, not any cards added by an admin.

When I turn that on, it allows them to edit the view for their entire team. Currently the user is unable customize just their view without me turning this feature on. But even when I turn it on they still cannot modify their own view- only the global/team view.

Hi @Vasiki,

The ability to customise personal views (just the left hand column) is default for all users.
(Knowledgebase article here --> https://knowledge.hubspot.com/object-settings/customize-records)

So in theory you shouldn't need to edit any permissions to retain that functionality (or in your case, potentially disable the ability to edit globally)

         Hey @Vasiki  Make sure that the users have the correct permissions set. They need to have the ability to create and edit personal views. If they can only modify shared views, that would explain why they can't adjust their views without impacting others.

         Also, make sure that users are creating personal views instead of modifying shared or team views. Personal views should allow them to customize their display without affecting others.

Hope that helps!

Hi @DvinM thanks for the reply. I cannot find specific permissions for modifying personal views. The only permission I see is the ability to customize record view which impacts all views not personal. Is there somewhere I should be looking?

Got it, If I had to guess It's probably a HubSpot update which is impacting this. You can double check by contacting their support team
