Deal stage goal

SOLVE

Hi everyone! 

At my company, we use funnel goals, which means we set specific deal goals for each stage of our sales pipeline. However, when I'm using the Goal report, I can only create goals by pipeline, not by individual stages.

Has anyone found a workaround or method for tracking deal stage goals more effectively within the tool? Would really appreciate any insights or creative solutions!

Important to mention that we are in the Professional subscription.

Hi @TVaz,

 

You should be able to accomplish this using the goals tool and applying the appropriate date property and filters. Here's a screenshot of a goal for a specific stage:

Screenshot 2025-04-14 at 8.07.04 AM.png The more filters you apply, the more specific you can be. Remember that you'll want to choose the appropriate date property for the goal setting based on the stage and date criteria.

 

Unfortunately, it sounds like you'll need a separate goal for each stage of the pipeline.

You're right!! HubSpot’s native Goals tool (Professional tier) only supports setting goals at the pipeline level, not by individual deal stages. However, here's a workarounds to effectively track deal stage goals:

  1. Create Deal Stage Goal Properties
    • Create a deal-based workflow for each stage.
    • Trigger: Deal stage changes to [Your Stage].
    • Action: Increment a count property (e.g., Total Deals - Proposal Sent).
      • Note: You can use a “counter” workaround by creating a custom number property and incrementing it via workflow for each new deal reaching the stage.
  2. Build Custom Report:
    • Use a Custom Report (Single Object: Deals).

    • Include filters by stage.

    • Display:

      • Total count of deals per stage (actuals)

      • Custom goal properties (you’ll need to pull these via calculated fields or dashboards)

      • Use dashboard widgets to compare goals vs. actuals visually.

  3. Addionally - you can use a custom sales dashboard showing:
    • Bar or funnel chart of deals in each stage

    • Text modules displaying your static stage goals

    • Gauge charts using calculated properties (e.g., % of goal achieved)

However, the limitations here are:

  • No automatic goal enforcement by stage in the native Goals tool
  • You’ll need to manually set and update stage-level goal values in custom properties
