Creating an Unpopulated New View in "Deals"

SOLVE

All -

I'm trying to create a new view in the "Deals" section, but I don't want it to populate with any current opportunities - I want a blank slate to start. But when I create the new view it's auto-populating with opportunities. I Googled how to do this and it says to click on "choose visibility" after naming the view, but that functionality isn't present - after I name it I click OK and it takes me to the report with all the opportunities present.

So I tried a different approach by creating the report and then removing the opportunities by selecting the bulk remove options using the select all box above the opportunities. But Google says to click "action" and then "remove" but I'm not seeing any action link to start that process.

Anyone know how to do this or have an alternate approach on what I'm looking to accomplish?

Thanks...

Creating an Unpopulated New View in "Deals"

SOLVE

Hi @PhillyPhilly,

If you want an empty filtered view, you would have to filter for something that excludes all current deals, such as: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/view-and-filter-records

  • Record ID is unknown
  • Create date is unknown
  • Deal name contains exactly [something that's not included in any deal name]

Alternatively, creating an empty static deal list might be more straightforward: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/lists/create-active-or-static-lists

Such an empty list could also be used as a filter in a view.

Hi @PhillyPhilly

What's the thinking/reasoning behind having an empty view?

A view in HubSpot is simply a filter for existing objects based on what you need to see.

I am kinda struggling to understand the need to see nothing at all...

Creating an Unpopulated New View in "Deals"

SOLVE
Hi Frank -

Thanks for your response... The need is because I want to begin populating
the report with the accounts I want to see. I have certain partners in a
specific program, and want to track things like certifications from our
company they've received, meetings they've scheduled with prospects, and of
course pipeline. So the report won't be blank for long, I just want to
create something empty and then go in and hand pick the partners I want
added to the report. Make sense?

Thanks

@PhillyPhilly in that case it makes most sense to filter for something that your future records will have in common, e.g. a custom property. If you filter for that and no matching records exist yet, the view will be empty.
