This seems like a really simple thing we should be able to do - I am creating a pivot table report that compare YoY cumulative # and value by month. However, when I build the table like I would any other report - it splits the monthly by month + year, instead of aggregating them - and aggregating them is not an option.

I re-created what you are doing in my own environment. Are you trying to see the total ticket counts:
(1) Month over Month (it shows you in the image above)
(2) Year End totals comparison (should be totalling at the bottom of the pivot table - you need to scroll down to the end)
Visually it can be annoying to have to scroll down to the bottom to see YoY.
Is there something else you are trying to accomplish?
I have done a lot of work arounds with my reporting. 🙂
