Tracking Users and Their Surveys

We want to implement a "shared link" survey and plan to have it show up in-app to our customers.

  • Is there way to associate users with their survey answers? I see we can add a required entry for email address, is that the only way, or does it do that already by default?
  • Once we have that data, does it automatically associate with that users profile in the HS CRM?

Thanks!

Hey @CFroyd at the moment the email field would be the only way to associate these surveys with your contacts, if there's a known cookie on the browser (IE the contact has submit another form on your website) then HubSpot may be able to identify them without and email, but this would be unreliable at best.

Yes if they're known HubSpot will automatically associate the feedback survey with the contact record based on the email!

Hi @CFroyd ,

To associate survey responses from a shareable link with a contact record in HubSpot, you'll need to include the email field in the survey. HubSpot relies on the email property as a unique identifier to match responses to the correct contact. If a respondent doesn’t provide an email address, their response will appear as an "unknown contact."
