I was wondering whether the Inbox and Messages API can now be used to import past chat or conversations from other tools such as Intercom or Salesforce Service Hub ?
I have a similar need. I imported tickets from Salesforce into Hubspot and our customers use the Customer Portal to get an overview, but all previous conversations and even the content of the ticket are not visible to the customers, because only the Ticket got imported, but no connected Thread was created. So I would need to create the Thread via the API now, but I cannot find out how this would work. Your suggested "Send a message to a thread" route would already require an existing thread to start with.

I checked our internal resources and we don't have any customer-reachable APIs that do allow for setting the timestamp on an incoming messages. I cannot promise this would become a feature in the future, but I do want to let you know that I have shared your use-case to the relevant team.
