Google Search Console can't read my sitemap

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to the HubSpot community for assistance regarding a technical issue with my website's sitemap.

I use https://composil.eu/ for my business, and I've recently encountered an issue where Google Search Console indicates that it is "Couldn't fetch sitemap" + "Unable to read the sitemap".

I have checked the XML format of the sitemap, and the submitted URL seems correct.

Here is the URL of my sitemap: https://composil.eu/sitemap.xml

However, the problem persists. Don't worry about the date, I've already tried several times and given Google plenty of time to assimilate the sitemap, but it didn't work, I think the problem lies elsewhere.

I am unsure of the next steps to take to resolve this issue. I wonder if it's a specific issue with HubSpot's configuration or something else that I might be missing.

Btw, here's my robot.txt setup in HubSpot

Do you have any advice or similar experiences to share? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help !

Best,
LM

Google Search Console can't read my sitemap

Generally, I have found this is only an issue if you are using the free version. If you are on a paid version, one workaround I have used is to create a sitemap on your own and upload it to the file manager. Copy the link and then submit that to Google as well - you can also use this to submit images as HubSpot does not include those in their sitemap.

Best of luck!

Thanks for reaching out. It looks like you've done a thorough check jrs tracking of your sitemap and robot.txt setup. To troubleshoot the issue, you might want to consider:

  1. Confirming that your sitemap is accessible to search engines.
  2. Checking for any disallowance rules in your robot.txt file that might be preventing access to the sitemap.
  3. Verifying if there are any server or hosting issues affecting sitemap accessibility.

If the problem persists, reaching out to HubSpot support could provide more specific insights. Hope this helps, and best of luck resolving the issue!

Have other people already had this problem?
If this problem can be compared to a "pending" status, do you have any idea how long it can take for Google to assimilate the sitemap?

Google Search Console can't read my sitemap

Hey @Leomdy Happy Friday!

Thank you for providing screenshots with more details.

  • The general recommendation here is to run a live test on the URL and ensure that Google can fetch the sitemap URL

  • I tried this earlier but was blocked by the DNS verification issue since I don't have visibility into this

  • Aside from that, I also understand that sometimes the 'Couldn't fetch' status can also be used in place of a 'Pending' status, you can reach out to Google as well to confirm this, as I'm seeing Google discussion threads on similar observation here and here

I hope this information helps,

Pam
