the metrics that matter most to my business (podcast) are listener engagement in terms of new listeners, downlaads, listener retention, and new vs. returning listeners. Social media reach is also an important metric to track as I promote the podcast brand and new episodes on Instagram. The engagement rate (likes + comments / followers) is important to see how much of my following is interacting with my content. Also story views, link clicks, and follower growth are important metrics to track. Community Interaction on social media is important to track to see how the audience is interpreting and interacting with the content. I am not at this point yet, but in the future I can hopefully track monitization and partner readiness as I persue sponsorships.

I own an emcommerce store so I would be testing a few products through my e-commerce store, so the metrics that I pay attention to would be:
Average order Value

customer acquisition costs (CAC) tell you how much it costs, on average, to get a new customer.

Conversion rate

Add to Cart

Cart abandonment rate

website traffic

Click through rates

Paying attention to these metrics will give me a good indication on which campaigns are effective compared to one another.

When sharing behind-the-scenes (BTS) content and promoting my short film on this forum, I prioritize metrics that show engagement and drive action. Specifically, I closely monitor thread engagement, which includes replies, 'likes,' and views, indicating how well the content resonates with the forum's audience. I also track click-through rates (CTR) if I'm linking to external sites like festival pages or viewing platforms, to see how often forum users click those links. Furthermore, I pay attention to any direct messages or mentions I receive related to the BTS content, as these can signal deeper interest. My goal is to gauge how effectively my BTS content is generating interest in my film and driving forum members to take the next step, whether that's watching the film or engaging in further discussion. I use the forum's built-in analytics, or if available, external link tracking tools to measure these metrics.

The metrics that matter most to my business are engagement rate, reach, and conversion rate. Engagement rate shows how well my content connects with the audience, while reach helps me understand how many potential customers I’m exposing my brand to. Conversion rate is essential because it tells me how many of those interactions actually lead to sales. Together, these metrics help me measure both brand visibility and business impact.

Since social media, especially Facebook, is the most effective way for us to promote our business.

Social media metrics - Reach, Impressions and Engagement are important to our business because they allow us to assess the effectiveness of the content that we promote on social media.

For social media/ content marketing and web designing, the following metrics are what matter most for me.

Social media metrics- to identify reach, impressions, and clickthroug rate. All of which are key to making sure the targeted audience is engaged.

Email metrics- growth of subscribers increases the number of emailable contacts

Paid metrics- to align with content and ensure lead generation

The metrics that matter most to my business are primarily conversions and engagement. Conversions are crucial because they directly reflect the effectiveness of content in driving business outcomes, such as sales, sign-ups, or any specific actions that align with my business goals. This metric helps in understanding the return on investment (ROI) of my content efforts.
Engagement, including metrics like page views, time on site, and social media interactions (likes, shares, comments), is also vital. It indicates how compelling and valuable my audience finds the content. High engagement rates often correlate with higher brand loyalty and can enhance visibility in search engines and social platforms.
Together, these metrics provide a comprehensive view of how well my content resonates with the target audience and drives desired actions, informing strategies for optimization and future content creation.

For a coworking space I am consulting for, I believe the right metrics would be:

1. Website product & service pages: incoming traffic volume to web page > engagement time > click-through-rate

2. Blog: incoming traffic volume to blog page > engagement time > share of traffic sent to website product/service page

3. Social media: Impressions > engagement > share of traffic sent to website product/service page

I am learning paid media but it would be more or less the same metrics. I would add ROAS & CAC to it.

Which metrics matter most to your business?

Engagement and conversion rate, because we should aim for a return on investment with every paid advertisement we put out online.

It depeneds on the type of campaign, but primarily page views, click-through rates, e-mail open rates, and time spent on individual pages.

A high conversion rate and a low bounce-back rate on our main website are important to our business. To determine the success of the blogs and content we write on our social media, it would be more on the lines of high engagement, page views, and click-through rates.
