To determine the success of your content, you have to set goals and track the metrics that make the most sense for your business. This could be page views, conversions, and so on. Keeping this in mind, which metrics matter most to your business and why? Tell us in the comments below.
For my business, the most important metrics are conversions and engagement. Conversions allow me to track how well my content is turning visitors into leads or customers, which directly impacts my business’s growth. Engagement metrics, like time on page, social shares, and comments, help me understand how well my audience is interacting with my content and whether it’s resonating with them. These metrics are critical because they provide actionable insights into both the quality of my content and its ability to drive meaningful results.
Cost per lead (CPL), Cost per Acquisition (CPA), Return on Investment (ROI) are the top 3 metrics for our paid campaigns. Impressions, Page Views, and Click through rate (CTR) are the top 3 metrics for our organic campaigns.
The metrics which work best for me are time at which I share my contents and engagement of new audience through instructive captions and hashtags. Relevant music also add an impact.
As I think about the product(s) I am creating, brand awareness is an important metric to start with. I would also use metrics from social media and an email campaign.
For my slam poetry blog, the most important metrics are:
Page Views: To measure overall interest in my content. Time on Page: To see if readers are engaging with the poems and staying to read through. Shares/Backlinks: To track how much my content is resonating and being shared with others. Newsletter Sign-Ups: To build a dedicated audience for future updates. These metrics help me understand what content works and how to grow my audience.
Right now we are only doing organic, so we are particularly interested in Unique views, traffic sources, bounce rate for the web, and reach and click-through rate for social.
Return on Investment (ROI): This metric helps measure the profitability of marketing and advertising campaigns, ensuring that every dollar spent contributes to business growth. It allows me to evaluate the effectiveness of different strategies and optimize spending for the best returns.
