What to do if you've already created subtopics but don't have the pillar page?

HubSpot has taught us to follow the content cluster model to better organize your content and improve SEO rankings.

But many brands who were not aware of this methodology were randomly generating content on their website. In that randomness, they create so many subtopics that are connected to a broad concept but lack the pillar page that can connect all those subtopics.

What to do in such case?

What to do if you've already created subtopics but don't have the pillar page?

If subtopics have been created without a corresponding pillar page in the content cluster model, there are corrective steps to align with HubSpot's strategy. Firstly, identify overarching themes from existing subtopics and choose one as the pillar page focus. Develop a comprehensive pillar page addressing this central theme, linking out to relevant subtopics and vice versa. Ensure subtopics align with the pillar page's theme, adjusting content as needed. Implement internal linking strategies to interconnect subtopics and the pillar page. By retrofitting existing content into this model, you'll establish a cohesive structure, optimizing SEO efforts and enhancing content organization for improved user experience.

If you've already created subtopics without a pillar page, don't worry. To align with the content cluster model recommended by HubSpot, start by identifying a core, overarching topic related to your subtopics. This will serve as your pillar page. Develop a comprehensive piece of content around this central theme, linking it to your existing subtopics. Ensure the pillar page provides valuable insights and acts as a hub for your related content. This way, you not only organize your content effectively but also enhance your SEO strategy by establishing clear thematic connections.

What to do if you've already created subtopics but don't have the pillar page?

Absolutely, creating a pillar page to tie together your existing subtopics is a crucial step in optimizing your content strategy. Fortunately, even if you've already generated numerous subtopics without a pillar page, you can still implement this approach effectively.

Firstly, identify the overarching theme that connects all your subtopics. This will be the focal point of your pillar page. Once you've pinpointed this theme, start drafting a comprehensive and in-depth piece of content that covers the main aspects of the overarching topic. This will serve as your pillar page, providing a robust foundation for your existing subtopics.

Next, ensure seamless integration by strategically linking your subtopics to the pillar page. Each subtopic should have a dedicated section within the pillar page where readers can delve deeper into related content. This not only enhances the user experience but also strengthens the thematic connection between the subtopics and the pillar page.

Optimize your pillar page for search engines by incorporating relevant keywords and ensuring a logical flow of information. This will contribute to improved SEO rankings and make your content more discoverable for users searching for information related to your chosen theme.

Encourage users to explore the interconnected web of content by promoting the pillar page prominently on your website. Consider featuring it in your navigation menu or as a highlighted section on your homepage. This increases the likelihood of visitors discovering the comprehensive resource you've created.

By implementing these steps, you not only address the absence of a pillar page but also enhance the overall structure and organization of your content. Users visiting your site will benefit from a more cohesive and informative experience, while search engines will recognize the interconnected nature of your content, positively impacting your SEO efforts.

my response would be like,

review all articles or those that are popular, then try to make a pillar page and after that try to connect others articles with it but after reviewing them
