Having a process also allows you to think of ideas that may not be easily apparent. What's one thing you do to help come up with new ideas? How can you incorporate this into a repeatable framework (for yourself as well as those you collaborate with)?
I collect articles and content in Evernote for later reading. But then I also keyword search the collection and often find connections and overlaps that generate interesting new content ideas either through a common thread or juxtapositioning.
As a teacher transitioning, my first steps when thinking about creating an engaging lesson, I always thought about what would engage my students first. So when I create content currently for my internship, I research my competitors, read articles or blogs to educate myself, and then recall my research when capturing the content.
Find something I think is interesting. Jot down the basic idea. research and expand on Idea. Create social, youtube and blog post based on my findings. (in theory, I haven't started yet LOL)
My process starts with research to find inspiration and learn from leading industries. Then the ideas come up few hours/days, then I joint them in a spreadsheet (content ideas).
When in search of new ideas and inspiration I go out for walks, listen to a different conversation or have conversations with people, and get inspiration from interacting with people outside of myself.
Having a change of environment is always helpful for me to reach more or deeper than the surface of creatitiy and ideas.
For myself, it may come when I am taking a morning walk or holding a conversation with someone, or even it takes days later. What I have to experience is that it cannot be forced and in this study, I am learning how to allow my mind to work itself and not overwork it.
I write diary, take notes about anything I see everyday, on social media, news, on the street or even in a song I just found. For me, it's the best way to be creative by myself but still corporate with the world
I subscribe to multiple newsletters in my industry and try to at least scan them everyday. But for pleasure I read The New York Times and The Washington Post daily, as well as HuffPost, NPR and the Atlantic. Whilr consuming content I am not just looking for topic inspiration but also compelling verbiage, powerful headlines etc
Reading and grasping information is very important to create the best content. I read less, but now I am trying to read as much as I can so that I can improve my writing skills.
I love reading and always check news stories outside my niche whenever possible. I also have a list of content themes that I'm checking daily. When I find an article that has potential, I'll save it or post it on social media, with a comment highlighting a trend or a what-if question. Increasingly, this can then become the jumping-off point for more in-depth research and then a piece of content. I've also found having a bath or going for a run to be great for those lightbulb moments.
Reading and learning from blogs, and videos related to the industry, analyzing the current trend and finding gaps between the trend and available content.
