What's your creative process?

Having a process also allows you to think of ideas that may not be easily apparent. What's one thing you do to help come up with new ideas? How can you incorporate this into a repeatable framework (for yourself as well as those you collaborate with)?

- First, I research the market and current demand for the field I want to develop.
- Second, I create content marketing articles that attract customers and promote products in my field.
- Third, I create and attract customer resources.
- Fourth, I use applied learning methods to bring high efficiency.
- Finally, adjust and balance the methods to perfection

I worked at a TVC producing Agency so I had to deal with tons of brief every week. And this is how I try to generate new ideas:

1st: I spent hours and days reading, watching and even buying and consuming the product (if it isn't too expensive haha).

2nd: I wrote down the product's USPs, ingrediences, customers, values, brand's style. Sometime I played "what's on your mind" quick game. I asked my parents, friends to come up scenerios, images, characters, events as much as possible and as quick as possible. That's how I could find the relationships and connections.

3rd: I love running and walking so before I hit the road, I tried to memorize the brief and let my brain work while I stayed healthy. Music helps me a lot on generating new ideas so I love running with my earphones.

4th: Whoala! Here comes the ideas, most of them were rejected but some of them were dealed and I love the Eureka moments, every single time!

I write a list of words that relate to the idea that I want to come up with, then I filter and try to find connections between them.

I can incorporate this into a repeatable framework by writing down a list of key points when gathering raw materials, then use them to generate original ideas.

Is true, the ideas come up in the less expected moment that's why is important to be prepared to record or write that Idea.

And something that I personally do to come up with ideas is read about the topic and try to find content related, now well known as a raw material.

Read published articles to come up with ideas is the way I come up with new ideas. Reading published articles can be incorporated into a repeatable framework by sending published articles for people to read and get information from, and then have them think of some ideas based on what the published article was about.

One thing I do to come up with new ideas is to research by going on different social platforms and further searching particularly compelling ideas online. I can fit this into the first step of the framework — gathering raw materials. Processing and making connections out of these ideas sets the stage for me to follow the rest of this framework.

1. Gathering Raw Material — other companies' ads and social content, articles I read online, social media trends, memorable quotes from movies, books & TV shows, company and personal/lifestyle blog posts, organize them into a spreadsheet or computer folder

2. Digesting Raw Material — look for ways the content I've gathered is related and what from the content fits together

3. Unconscious Processing — take a break from intentionally thinking about the ideas I've gathered, see how they seep into my day to day activities (example: article about parking difficulties pops in my head while I'm looking for parking downtown Chicago)

4. Lightbulb Moment — come up with a new idea based on info I gathered & my own processing (example: new advertising idea for Spothero)

The method that got me the idea was listening to music, watching the sunset, driving around the city. My mood will be relaxed and I will come up with many great ideas.

I like to say I am a pantser, a fancy word for someone who writes at the end of their seats without really knowing where what they are writing would take them. I like surprises, so I combine things in way I doubt people who would have seen. But usually I tend to wait for this mental boost that comes after my ideas have been properly cooked for a while.

I am not a book person, I do surf a lot & watch documentaries or read articles from here & there on internet. If I get any interesting fact or a thought I saved it on my note. I also download the links of the blogs or videos. When I have to write or create any content on a particular topic I just re-read them or research more about that. As soon as I got an idea or frame I note it down and try to write down the whole idea.

In fact, I am not a books lover, I am not into it but I build a habit of reading for myself whenever I surf my social media. If there are some worth read articles, I'll share them on my privacy wall. Besides, when an idea comes into my head, I immediately write it down on my Notion or and notebook. These things aim to not let my idea wasted and I can use them whenever I need.

Research: reading, talking, watching documentaries or shows relative to my topic.

Putting together a format or flow to write things down as I finish reading something or talking to someone.

Every object is a unique idea... you just need to look at it from another prospect.

  • Deep observation
  • Chewing the thoughts
  • Research
  • Communication
  • Relationships
  • Imaginative (Even one can see the cats flying)
  • Rough outline
  • Penning
  • Editing
  • Writing

and so on...

Currently, I'm working on generating new content ideas from data -> tracking Google Search Console, looking up keywords in SEMRush and BuzzSumo and finding gaps we did not cover until now. I'm also regularly checking competitor's websites to see what topics are they writing about. When I find something interesting, I check how that would apply to us, what is our perspective, what we can add -> to produce a valuable piece of content.

I used to write a brain storm and try to make a final eureka . Or running in the morning helps a lot!

I try to keep a list of my random ideas. Often, I will read, research, watch videos or even go on a walk to come up with an idea.
