Personalization is a tool you can use in your contextual marketing strategy to focus on an individual. You’ll be able to provide even more value to your users by communicating directly to them using their personal details. Keeping this in mind, how would you go about implementing personalization and what steps would you need to take? Share your example in the comments below.
I believe the very first step in personalization is collecting contact information with a Newsletter subscription, holding a Campaign or Event, or establishing a customer club and keeping members aware of updates, latest news, products, services. Next, we can use those attributes/tokens in web page design and recommendations for suitable products/services.
Understanding the users role in decision making within an organization. Messaging can be more logistical to someone in operations, talking to safeguards and security to someone in Legal or IT, and opportunitites for growth to executives.
To implement personalization, I'd try to find a way to understand the personalities of consumers of a product to get an idea of consumers and who they are.
Implementing personalization in an email would be easiest by having potential subscribers fill out a form based on location and even their birthday. This could help with offers based on their birthday or services available near them.
Personalization is in the small details making a big diference, for example when you have the record of your clients and you are able to remeber who they are and the reason why they aproach you product/service, details such a their names, their location, age, among others can help us to segment and personalized their buyer experience
A simple example of personalization is using a person's name at the start of an email. A bad example of personalization is using a person's revenue in an email.
Use responsive emails including the customers name, items they may have considered purchasing. Their location, and suggestions to other products they may be intererested in post sale.
An example of personalization would be sending a contact who is already an existing customer a newsletter with product information specifically geared towards them based on their prior purchases.
I´m thinking about having progressive profiling in the forms. That way i wont have to overwhelm te visitor with long forms everytime they enter our site. Instead we can ask for new information in short forms and eventually we´re have plenty information about them.
Personalized datas can be a great way for creating action trigger: From personalized CTA, over geographical location (if this have sense for your industry), up to nurturing as a client (birthday card)...
