What does Content Strategy exactly mean? Does it include blogging?
Ey guys!
Nice to meet you all 🙂 i am Melodía, i am currently taking the course about Content Strategy and i am getting a bit confused with the terminology.
I am reading here: https://www.hubspot.com/inbound-marketing that blogging isn´t considered as a part of the content strategy (?). I assume that with content strategy we are meaning the webpages and landing pages too, but what about blogging and, for example, wikis?
And henceforth, can we talk about SEO as a part of the content strategy too? What about writing the ads and scripting videos? Can we integrate all these different channels under the content strategy´s umbrella?
As @AndyAngRS said, business objectives drives content production and then amplification helps bring it further.
Like if your goal is to generate traffic, blogging should be must. But if you're more focused on sales and after sales activities, you may not need blogging as in such cases, other content forms like landing pages, documentation, demo pages can do.
And now to answer your question, "content strategy means a strategy that involves content generation to help you reach your desired goals." Now again, if your goals can be reached without blogging, you don't need to write blogs but if it does, you can create blogs.

Got it!
I got confused with the documentation. In my job experience i was always focused on attrackting more traffic and i didn´t have to improve another stages of the customer journey. Now i understand the big picture 🙂
There's no right or wrong way but to me; business objectives drives content production and then amplification helps bring it further. In your terms; business objectives is in the center of the circle followed by platforms (that house long form content) like website, blogs etc and then amplication tools.
Influencers could be both if they create your brand content and housed it on their website/channels then amplified it to their community. The strategy could be given by global teams and then the local marketers to localized and amplify it.
I would classify blogging and SEO as part of content strategy because one of my objectives in content is to drive visitorship to the website and convert them. SEO/SEM helps me to focus my efforts on keywords that matters and then those keywords translate into a blog post.
I see social media channels as content amplification tools in the overall content strategy, writing copy for ads, creating videos etc. At the end of it all, your content strategy should also relate to overall business strategy.

Andy!
Thank for replying. So, let´s say that the nuclear elements of a content strategy could be:
Web pages
Blog
Wiki?
A planed SEO strategy
Around these nucler elements, we have some tools made to amplificate the nucler content like:
Social Media
Videos
SEM
Perhaps, user-created content?
Landing pages?
Help center?
Users Academy?
Extra materials like e-books, etc.?
Podcasts?
What about influencers? I would say, this is a kind of amplification tool too, but i found this in the course (see picture). Of course, we are talking about collaborating with influencers and attracting organic traffic, but again, i feel that the bounderies are not well defined:
Sorry that i insist on the same topic, i need to organize my thoughts theoretically on paper first to be able to structure a good content strategy in a practical way later.
Who should be, based on your experience, in charge of the amplications tools? It looks to me more like the tasks usually done by the marketing team, right? So, the content strategy should be subordinated under the global marketing strategy right?
