Regardless of the story you’re trying to tell and how you’re trying to tell it, storytelling has three essential elements:

  • Characters
  • Conflict
  • Resolution

Choose one of your favorite brands, and tell their business's story by answering the below questions.

  • Who is the brand?
  • Who is their audience?
  • What challenge are they helping their audience to overcome? How are they doing it?

The characters are everyone; a student, a teacher, a worker,...who needs a pen for writing, and a lighter for smokers. 

Conflict is the quality of products. We have always two questions :

- Is the ballpoint pen clogged with ink?

- Should the lighters be manufactured?

The resolution is BiC should provide a good quality pen at a cheap price for customers. 

And the lighters are the best choice of quality when the customer thinks about buying a lighter.

However in recent years the market has become increasingly over saturated with faux bags bearing the Brand name at an even cheaper price. Coach has had to combat the company's that are selling these Purses as well as keep up with the latest trends and still sell their signature brand at an affordable rate.

It took me a good minute to decide who my favourite brand was. I typically resort to Apple, or sometimes Crocs if I'm trying to be somewhat funny. But the deciding factor was choosing a brand that resonates with me and has helped me in my critical and professional development. I've selected the publishing house, Verso for this task. 

 

I would determine their target audience consists of students, educators, and professionals that have pursued other careers in academia. However, that's not to say their reach goes beyond these segments. I can certainly see authors, and those interested in their diverse range of publishing categories also being incorporated into their target audience. 

Whether it's in the field of economics; social politics; aesthetics; general philosophy; or any of their other myriad categories, Verso publishes literature that attempts to answer some of the most divisive topics that take over our screens and attention spans today. From the climate crisis to social relations, they have an expansive selection of books that answer the complex questions their readers have. Furthermore, they use their social channels, and online blogs to give brief overviews when a new book is published. Providing enough information for their time-sensitive target audience to know whether a publication is right for them or not.
