Improving your content creation process

Your content creation process should be something that's clear, repeatable, and organized. It's important to evaluate your process from time to time to see how it can be improved (for you and those you collaborate with).

Before you create your next piece of content, what's one thing you could do to improve your current process? For me, I'm going to create a survey via a Google form and send it to those I collaborate with to get their feedback. The easier I am to collaborate with, the more people will want to work with me.

*To learn more about this, check out the Building a Content Creation Framework lesson via HubSpot Academy.

I am going to plan my content in advance.

Since I do not have a team or freelancers, I can get my created conted to be checked to a friend who is good with words.

I will schedule the name of the posts for specific days.

Things I could do to improve my content planning:

1. Plan my contents a month ahead with a clear storyline and extremely detailed so I know how many resources I may need

2. Set clear expectations for myself and others

3. Allocate enough time to create content atleast 1 month time

4. Align myself with the Business Team

5. Set realistic deadlines and commit to them

Conceptualizing is usually the toughest part of the journey for me So when I get a Topic for a peice of content I look on google for what people are googling about that topic so I know which questions I should be answering.

Ensuring we have the topic clusters and keywords established prior to creating content.

I am so new to the topic, and for that reason, one thing I can do right now is actually to use a content creation framework. I was a little familiar with the process. My goal would be to practice it to improve my use of it.

I guess as a Marketer and a Content writer one should do some competitive research, for topics and keyowords - for ideas and what is in demand.

Also, as a Content Creator I make it a point to do a quick check on Ginger it for shorter copies and Grammarly for long form content.

There's a whole lot I'm still trying to get a grasp of, but building a content creation framework is the first I will pursue and I believe I'll learn everything else before I become an expert in creating a professional content creation framework.

Mine would be to have an established workflow sequence. I often create content in one go, without breaking down the steps to fully access the authenticity and strength of the content.

One earlier step I need to solidify is collecting data into a central location in order to strengthen buyer personas through that data. In the creation process itself, becoming very familiar with one or two particular types of PM software/platforms and how to personalize them for my content creation process.

Step 1: Conceptualizing Content

  • Use SEO tools like Wordtracker, Ahrefs, Ubersuggest, and sometimes Answer The Public
  • Read Blog Post about the topic
  • Search on Google to see and analyze competitors
  • Read about the topic on online forums like Reddit

Step 2: Planning A Timeline

As a solo creator, sometimes it takes 15 hours-days to create the content

Step 3: Creating A Workflow

As a single creator, I focus on one thing at a time. Research, create content add images, etc

Step 4: Reviewing and editing

I use the free version Grammarly and edit the content myself

Step 5: Organizing and storing content

  • I use Google docs and
  • sometimes I schedule it straight in WordPress

Thanks for sharing.  I need to focus more on SEO and keywords.  Are the SEO tools you mentioned free?

There is a while bunch of things I need to work on. I didn't know how to creat a framework so that's going to be my 1st task and eventually moving on to the nitigrities of the process.

The biggest area for improvement in my current content process is setting clear deadlines for each task. My current deadlines are too broad and all-encompassing. I need to break down my processes into even smaller steps to avoid getting too bogged down.

Collaboration is something I need to seriously think about. I don't know how to do it.

Focusing on buyer personas.

Pointless creating vague content that targets no one!
