How can you extend the value of your next piece of content?

To extend the value of my next piece of content, I could repurpose it into different formats to reach more people. For example, if I write a blog post, I could turn it into a podcast episode where I talk about the same topic and share extra ideas. I could also make a slide deck summarizing the content and share it on platforms like SlideShare or use it in a webinar. Another idea is to break the blog into smaller parts and send them as a follow-up email series. Lastly, I could do a Q&A or live stream based on the main points from the blog to connect with my audience. Repurposing content like this helps me reach more people in different ways.

How can you extend the value of your next piece of content?

I would first categorise some of my posts on social media platforms like Instagram and create a guide for the same, summarising each of them. Then I'll create an article and insert some images, videos, etc other than my posts. This will help the audience to know about my personal profiles and their engagement would increase there too. I'll also keep refreshing my articles and add new posts to cater to the new customers and in improving SEO on google. I'll further link these articles by changing the titles on various platforms like Medium, Quora, LinkedIn, etc.

I can see many ways now of repurposing content and extending the value! I also have much more content that is reuseable, than I really had thought about. This content can be used in blog posts, youtube videos, free ebooks to generate more interest in products and to draw people in.

I would divide the task into a 3-4 weeks strategy. Once the original short/long form content is created, I'd have the next 3-4 weeks planned in a manner that every week I post the content in the new format. For example: A YouTube video (long format content) can be sub-divided into short forms of content for socials, website blogs, and expert opinions etc. Publish content every week so that we offerhookable, digestible, and multi-format content for the end consumers.

After creating the piece of content in whatever form first, take it as a base for making other multiple content formats. If the content piece is large in size, it can be divided in to sub topics and be shared as posts, reels, youtube shorts or tik tok content. the original larger base content can also be converted into a podcast, an email newsletter series or a youtube long-form video. If the base content piece is short in nature then it can be used as a short topic, out of which a core topic can be figured out and the same practice of converting into other formats can be applied as discussed previously.

2) I will create content on broad topics and divide them into sub topics to help in consistency. Informative post will be posted as Carousel,  main topics will be as a video or reel content, I will Ask my audience Question in a single post for instractions and hearing their opinions, that way, I have repurpose a content

How can you extend the value of your next piece of content?

I am not a marketer by trade -- I am a web developer and more recently an IT Manager and became a HubSpot administrator as I chose HubSpot for our CRM. To that end, I thought I would learn more about marketing and market my abilities better than I have. So, my answers in this may not have a ton of insight, but I just need to go for it.

 

From what I can tell, it seems that a great and relatively simple way to extend and repurpose content is to start with a blog on some topic. Then take the topic and build it out, do a deeper dive -- do this after 12 months or so. You then update the original blog with a link to wherever you put the longer piece of content -- a guide, whitepaper, presentation, etc.

 

In my simple, non-marketing mind, it does a whole lot:

  • You now have 2 places where you talk about the topic, increasing your chances of it being found in a search.
  • The longer, more in-depth piece of content works to affirm domain expertise.
  • You can kill two birds with one stone when updating your original blog with a link to the whitepaper, presentation, infographic, etc:
    1. Well, duh, add the link to the guide or whitepaper.
    2. Since your there, historically optimize the blog as well. This will work to refresh the content and potentially increase the ranking within search results -- Google rewards freshness.
