Ecommerce content marketing vs SaaS Content Marketing
Hello everyone!
Here is something I am currently working on. I am trying to understand how ecommerce content marketing is different from saas content marketing.
Buyer journey is different in both cases. Content funnel is more practical for saas content marketing. For ecommerce, awareness and engagement stages are the same but conversion stage is different.
Ecommerce content marketing vs SaaS Content Marketing
Hi,
I would divide them into:
B2C Marketing (ecommerce):
Funnel & buyer journey are different from B2B, content marketing is resposible for sales. Main KPI: ROAS.
Main content format: visual, photos and videos (super expensive to develop).
B2B Marketing (saas):
Funnel & buyer journey are different from B2C, content marketing can generate leads (MQLs) that later sellers may or not convert. Main KPI: Influence % in sales.
Main content format: written thoughtleadership, checklist, eBook.. depends on the goal.
This is just a very simple explanation. By all means, if you are trying to understand how to work with content marketing. I suggest to follow this steps:
1st identify if it's a B2B or B2C Company.
2nd Test channels where you will promote your product, and stay in those that perform best (For example; social media, or web, or email...)
3rd Run different strategic campaigns across those channels w/ different content (organic initatives and paid - Strongly suggest to run paid on Thoughtleadership/offers).
4th Measure and optimize
Learn and optimize! And don't forget to ask for feedback internally and share updates.

Hi @DAhmad2, I totally agree with you. Even though the end goal in E-commerce and Saas might be similar (growth and profit), the road to getting there is very different. With SaaS, I would say the strategy is more long-term and E-commerce is the opposite.
