Smart Content does not work in coded Email Template

Hi,

I have created a smart rule for gender specific salutation in my custom email template (based on foundation for emails).  

The smart rules are based on lists which contain male and female contacts.

I have send me an email for testing (I am member of male).

The received email shows all variants of the smart rule.

Here is the code snippet:

{% widget_block rich_text "main_content_salutation" overrideable=True, label='SALUTATION: Make me smart! --->' %}
    {% widget_attribute "html" %}
        <h2>Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,</h2>
    {% end_widget_attribute %}
{% end_widget_block %}

Using smart content in HubSpot Email Templates do not cause this problems.

Any idea what could cause this behaviour in custom email templates?
