Clone or Copy a Static List

SOLVE

I want to take an existing list of 57 contacts and create a cloned version of it with several removed for a more honed in marketing approach. It won't let me clone the list because it is static. How do I do what I want without exporting, deleting, and reimporting these contacts into a new list?

It sounds like you're using some sort of criteria to filter down to a smaller list from that 57. Would simply creating a new list with the following criteria work?

[Is a member of such_and_such list]

AND

[Has the other conditional criteria you're looking for]

That should work, as either a static or smart list.

I'm probably wrong. I may not be right about that.

Clone or Copy a Static List

SOLVE

Hi @waters314,

It's been six years but: this is now possible. See the announcement below:

[Automated Rollout] Clone Static Lists

Feb 2, 2023

What is it?

You can now clone static lists.

Why does it matter?

Previously you could only clone active lists. With this update, you can also clone static lists and make filter updates before saving them as a new list.

How does it work?

Inside any list click Actions and then Clone. You will see three options:

  • Clone as an active list- This will clone the current active or static list as a new active list with the same filters. Users can edit this list before saving it.
  • Clone as a static list- This will clone the current active or static list as a new static list with the same filters. Users can edit the list before saving it.
  • Clone as static list (membership only)- This will copy all members of an active or static list and paste them into a new static list with no filters.

Who gets it?

All hubs and tiers

Best regards!
