New HubSpot <> Stripe Integration

SOLVE

Hello, everyone. Is anyone else facing issues with managing legacy subscriptions on Stripe alongside the new HubSpot subscriptions that are getting created as result of HubSpot's transformation of the integration from the previous legacy version?

We have been using Stripe for subscription management and payment processing for many years and the legacy Stripe integration allowed us to automatically create subscriptions on Stripe by adding payment links to quotes. When the quote got paid, a subscription would be set up on Stripe and Stripe would then set up the recurring invoicing structure and automatically charge cards on file.

Now that HubSpot's Commerce Hub has replaced the legacy integration version, new subscriptions are created in HubSpot and Stripe is only acting as the payment processor. Since we have built custom app integrations with Stripe, as well as a SaaS flow, and all our existing subscriptions are there, it does not make sense to use a completely different platform for new subscriptions.

Is there a workaround?

Hey @SMansoor1 @GBallard

I've just seen this post in the HubSpot Community page regarding issues with Stripe integration into CommerceHub - I completely understand your frustration!

If you're looking for customers to self-service orders, run memberships/subscriptions, or b2b operations, we've built a native HubSpot commerce deployment (not CommerceHub) that integrates seamlessly with Stripe, which eliminates this current challenge.

If you're interested, please dm me your email and I can send through more information and better understand your specific needs. I'm happy to help.

Cheers, Oscar

Hi SMansoor1 -

As you've noted above, the new integration is designed to run subscriptions through HubSpot and does not create them in Stripe. In your specific example, you should create your links in Stripe and embed them in Quotes (comments section) and emails/sequences, and then use DataSync (free) to send back data from Stripe to HubSpot for your automation/marketing/customer management.

I am running into the same issue not sure why HS would make such a huge change this is honestly making us look at other platforms and switching away from Hubspot, this was one of our big sales on HS was allowing sales people to create quotes in HS with out having to have access to stripe, our app is hooked up to stripe to look at subscriptions to give the client access to our software and Hubspot not sending over the subscription data to stripe destroys our flow.

I spoke to our HubSpot Customer Success Manager and he checked internally. Their suggested solution was to build a custom integration with Stripe thast works on the right side card, so a sales rep can simply click something and it creates a payment link, the link populates a deal property and a deal token is used on the quote itsef to dynamically insert the payment links. This can be built by an internal development team or HubSpot's Technical Consultants at an additional cost.

As you can appreciate, this is not an optimum solution for us so we are looking at Zapier/Make etc. to connect HubSpot to Stripe. As a stop-gap measure, we have disabled the Stripe integration and get leads to sign HubSpot quotes confirming their intention to proceed. Then we manually create the subscription or invoice on Stripe and send it over.

Hi, Victoria

Thank you for responding. We have standard products with custom discounts for some customers as well as multiple currencies, so creating payment links for each would not suit, introducing too many chances of human error. Also, athough the free DataSync version syncs product and customer data points, none of them would inform us if a payment went through and a subscription was created. However, I will explore the Operations Hub Starter package to see if we can use something there.

Thanks again.
