How to give a 100% discount in forms

JGarrett321

I am brand new to Hubspot.  I want to create a discount code that takes 100% off of the price for certain formtakers but the discount code won't let the formtaker apply the code if the total is less than 50 cents.  What am I doing wrong?  How can I make this work?

Hi @JGarrett321 ,

Thank you for reaching out! The issue you’re encountering is due to HubSpot's system restrictions, which prevent applying a 100% discount when the total amount is very low, such as less than 50 cents. Unfortunately, this means the discount code won’t work as expected in this scenario.

As an alternative, you can try setting the discount to a high percentage close to 100% (e.g., 99%), which should still provide a significant reduction while staying within the system’s limits.

The above approach should be able to solve your query. If this helps, feel free to mark it as the solution ✔️ and give it an upvote 👍 !

Hi @JGarrett321,

Unfortunately, this cannot be done automatically within HubSpot. You can maybe give manual process a try like instead of processing payment, confirm booth reservations through direct contact with your sales or support teams, who can manually adjust bookings for eligible companies using HubSpot's CRM tools.

Hi @JGarrett321 ,

I made 2 forms. One that requires payment and one that doesn't. I share the link that doesn't require payment for 100% discount. And if someone submits the form when they should have paid, I follow up with them. Not ideal but it works.

Thank you for the response. The form I created is to reserve an exhibitor booth at our event. We have a few companies that get a free booth due to our service agreement. If I use the 99% discount, that will still leave them with a bill they have to pay either through a credit card or ACH. I want to avoid taking payment. There is no other way?

I want this feature, too! I also use hubspot for exhibitors to reserve booth space. Very frustrating that it can't be done, since it's such a basic thing! What I did was create a form that had a link to the payment link after submission. That way, companies that don't owe can just not click the link. It's a crude and frustrating solution, but it works. One issue is that people just don't pay when they're supposed to, but then I invoice them. It's extra work on my part that could be eliminated if Hubspot could get their act together and include this perfectly reasonable feature!!
