I've been getting this error when syncing individual lists since yesterday afternoon. I put in a ticket with support but I know it's their week of rest.
The “Error initiating your Salesforce sync” issue can be due to a few different causes. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:
Reconnect Salesforce: Sometimes, the connection to Salesforce times out or needs a refresh. In HubSpot, go to Settings > Integrations > Connected Apps, select Salesforce, and reconnect it.
Check Salesforce Sync Settings: Verify that the field mappings, sync settings, and any rules are correctly set for each individual list you’re trying to sync.
Clear Out Pending Sync Requests: If there are many pending sync tasks, they could be clogging up the pipeline. Clearing these out may resolve the issue.
Error Logs in HubSpot and Salesforce: Check any error logs in both HubSpot and Salesforce to see if specific error messages appear, as they might offer additional insight.

I am having exactly the same problem. This happens when I click on the list action to sync with salesforce. My list has only 250 contacts and my API limit remaining is 300k.
Sorry to hear you're experiencing the problem but glad to know I'm not alone! If you haven't put a ticket in with support yet, please do so and maybe that will move the issue to the top of the list.
Where exactly are you seeing this error message? Could you please share a screenshot?
When you say that you're syncing individual lists, how exactly do you go about this? Are you referring to the integration inclusion list? The more details you share, the higher the likelihood of a fast resolution. Currently, there's not a lot to work with.

An update--I posted on Twitter and tagged Hubspot Support who got me in touch with someone. I sent them an .har file but, unfortunately, there might not be a resolution until next week.

This knowledge base article notes that syncing lists requires up to 3x the number of API calls for the list size:
