Hi Community

I'm a little confused about the company information. It seems  one company multi contacts can be assigned to different company owner right? I thought the company owner was desgined to avoid any fight between different owners if both/all of them are engaging with different customers in the same company for the same purchase, so maybe it's better that one company, one company owner.  But it doesn't seem to work that way in HubSpot.

Another question is that referring to the picture above, company Arccocc has 4 associated contact records and the display is just one row, however the company Baidu also has 4 contact records but the records were displayed seperately. What's the possible reason?

Hi @tzhou2

My best guess is that the 4 Baidu company records are duplicates. Can you check the following:

  1. If you check each Baidu Inc record, does each have a company domain? HubSpot deduplicated based on company domain, i.e. baidu.com. If a company record doesn't have a domain, the deduplication doesn't work.
  2. Can you check the "manage duplicates" view in HubSpot? I assume Baidu Inc will show up in there.Screenshot 2023-05-12 at 05.19.47.png
  3. How are companies created in your portal? Do you run imports?
  4. Can you check your company object settings: Settings -> Data Management -> Objects -> Companies. If you create and auto asscociate companies with contacts, that should also help. Screenshot 2023-05-12 at 05.24.25.png

Thanks

Frank

But I still don't know why a company has only one company owner  but different contact owners. If the contact owners contact different contacts at the same time for the same deal/purchase, there is possibly a collision!

Hi Frank

Thanks for your detailed reply

I tried your guesses and find there isn't any wrong. But I have another guess and I think that is the true reason.

I created the company by directily enter the domain name in 'Create a company'. Then it asks me whether it's the same with the previous created baidu.com.  Then I choose 'No, create a new one'. So HubSpot thought this baidu is different from the already ones even their names are the same. But in the company view, they share the same icon.

Maybe this occasion doesn't happen very common.

Thanks again!
