filtering contacts on a custom text property

SOLVE

I am new to Hubspot. I just imported my contacts. They have some custom text properties that I want to continue using. I tried to create a filter based on one of the custom properties but there did not seem to be a facility for doing it. How can I fiter my contacts on my custom properties?

Hi @Quarrion

Where it says 'add options' you need to type in values that you know or believe to exist within the text entries. Becasue the contents of a free text field are not enumerated by HubSpot, like a dropdown, it can't present the options for you automatically.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Quarrion

Absolutely 🙂 You can create custom properties using dropdown, single checkbox, multi-checkbox and more formats, and control the contents completely.

filtering contacts on a custom text property

SOLVE

Hi all,

I am also new to Hubspot, & having an issue adding a new filter using one of our custom properties we added.

I am trying to create a list with contacts using a custom property we've added called Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). It designates the US region where the contact's company is located. We have an upcoming event in the state of Texas, so I was hoping to create a list of contacts that all have a Texas MSAs. I'm able to add a new filter, select MSA, but when I try to input something under the "contains exactly" radio button, the drop down comes down, but it does not allow me to input anything at all.  Looking at this string it does show that I should be able to input text after selecting that contains exactly" radio button.  Am I doing this correctly?

In my Hubspot it doesn't allow me to add any options.  It shows a gray circle with a line through it when I try.
