filter by state not working

I am trying to filter my contacts by State/Region. I'm finding that if a company has the state listed, but a contact does not have that info explicitly entered, it will not show up if I'm filtering by contact for region.


I am frustrated because we list our "deals" by contact. However, I am unable to search by region within "contacts" due to the above problem.


Has anyone else run into this, and is there a solution aside from manually going in and entering all company info into each company's contact?

If the state is only associated with the company, it will only be applied to companies. If you want to filter contacts by it, you'll need to apply it to the contact record.


If you have access to workflows, then you can copy company properties into contact properties.
