copy all of our contacts email to work email

resolver

Is there a way to copy all of our contacts email addresses to work email address field?

We are still importing data and I'm trying to get it uploaded the best way possible. We have some contacts with a work & home email.

Itmakes sense to have the work email as the field that our contacts email addresses are imported to.

Currently, however, most of hwat has been imported from someone else and eventbrite - all of the email addresses have been imported into email rather than work email.

Thank you for your help.

Hi @PLusk,

With a Professional subscription, you can use a contact-based workflow to enroll contacts where field A is known and then copy the value from field A to field B. Without workflows, there isn't any fast option to do this.

If you have already imported contacts and want to update their main email address, the only way of doing so without creating duplicates would be exporting your contacts and then re-importing them with an updated email address. The export file from HubSpot includes the contact ID. When re-importing contacts with a new email address, this contact ID must be referenced. This contact ID helps HubSpot understand that you want to update a contact with a new email address and not create a new one. (Otherwise HubSpot will simply read a new email address as a new contact and create a duplicate.)

Overall, keep in mind that you cannot send emails to custom email fields. HubSpot has only one 'official' email field that is used for send sales and marketing emails.

Generally, you can have multiple email addresses on the contact record with the 'official' email field but it's not possible to import into this field: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/email/how-can-i-add-multiple-email-addresses-to-a-contact

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!
