Working with an investment group and need to track individual investor stages within each deal.

Looking for a solution for this in Deals: Working with an investment group and need to track individual investor stages within each deal. aka, I need to know where each contact is, on each deal they are associated with. Because each investor will be associated with multiple deals. Current example is a deal with 11 contacts (aka investors) associated, each at a different investment stage. Any help is much appreciated!

@PJMcD without enterprise, you'd need to create a series of Deal properties where this information can be tracked. You'd have to have a combination for the contact and status, something like:

Investor 1 Name (use workflow to copy from associated contacts based on association label)

Investor 1 Status (the status of their investment, preferably a dropdown)

Investor 2 Name

Investor 2 Status

Investor 3 Name

Investor 3 Status

etc.

This would need to account for your extreme case (11 sets of properties, or possibly 12-15 if you expect to have more in the future).

Once you have these configured, you can customize the Deal sidebar record to make them visible from each of the deals.

Hope this helps!

Any luck here? Would love to chat if so.

I was considering creating custom Association labels (between Contacts and Deals) that would represent each investor stage - which I think could have been a good starting point.

I was also planning to create individual investor amount properties and create either a calculated property - or a workflow - that would roll those amounts into the total amount raised for each deal/opportunity.

However, I didn't pursue it further - as my client's HubSpot subscription was very basic and included no automation and limitations on the # of Association Labels I could create - and they did not want to upgrade.

Workaround was to link to a Google Sheet in each deal and I created a property for that link.

Hi @PJMcD and all my Best Wishes for 2024!!!

Great question, thanks for asking the Community!

I understand that you'd like to see, on the deal record, the lifecycle stage of the associated contacts. Please let me know if that's not the case.

I am wondering if you could achieve this via a workflow, with the "copy property value" action, to copy the value from the contact records onto the deal record. Would that work?

I also wanted to invite a couple of subject matter experts to this conversation: Hi @Jnix284, @Jonno_Price and @SNigam do you have suggestions to help @PJMcD, please?

If anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation 🙂

Thanks a lot 🌟 and have a wonderful day!

Best,
Bérangère

Thanks for your response and call to action for additional insights, @BérangèreL! Much appreciated.

The issue is more complicated, though.

A contact may be associated with several deals - and their "investment status" will be different wih each deal.

Creating a custom object might be a solution - but I believe that feature is only available in Enterprise - which the client doesn't have.

Thank you!
