Why doesn't Hubspot catch duplicate Deals?

Hi there,


My company looks through different opportunities at varying points in time. Sometimes, a new employee will enter a Deal that already exists in the "Inactive" stage of the Pipeline, but Hubspot won't stop the creation or merge them. It will just have two Deals with the same name. How do we avoid this?

Unlike contact and company records, HubSpot currently does not deduplicate deals, as there is no unique identifier for them (such as email or domain).


If you are concerned about duplicates, I would recommend sorting your deals alphabetically, as this will highlight when there are two deals with the same name.
