Why can’t I see a contact’s form submission after merging companies?

SOLVE

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed something strange when working with form submissions:

  • A contact fills out a HubSpot form → I can see the submission under the contact record.

  • Later, I merge that contact’s company with another existing company.

  • After the merge, the contact is correctly associated with the new (merged) company.

  • However, when I go to the company record, I can’t see the contact’s form submission anymore. I can only see under the contact

Why does this happen? Shouldn’t the form submission still appear under the new company record since the contact is now associated with it?

Is this expected behavior in HubSpot, or am I missing a setting/workaround?

Thanks!

My assumption on this is that the form submission triggers a timeline sync to the company when the form submission happens on an associated contact, not at all times. Technically speaking when the form submission happened the contact wasn't a contact associated with the company, so the form submission didn't happen on the company record.
I've seen a few times where merged records don't push timeline updates to associated records but this seems to be the way it currently works!
