When editing a contact, I am unable to save the changes?

I have Superadmin status, but when I go to edit most fields in a contact, the save icon is not appearing in the left hand menu. In the LH menu I can edit the name at the top, plus the phone number; but not the other fields. It was working perfectly up till Tuesday. Another user who also has access can see the save button.
Someone on the chat window suggested clearing the cache as well as signing in and out, which I have done. I also turned the computer off, and re-booted; but it is still not working. Any ideas?
