We want to automate the process of new sales enquiries coming in to our business.
In a former company, we designed a web form which was accessed by clicking on a link on our website. The form collected the prospects data - usual stuff - company name address phone number, the enquires first name last name address email phone number mobile number etc.
When we hit submit on the form, the data was sent directly into HubSpot and mapped to the contact / company record, and then sent notification to the sales manager that a new sales lead had arrived.
Is this something mere mortals could tackle OR do I need a masters in global IT networking to even try?
Being a regular mortal will do. What you're looking for (submitting a form, updating a contact/company) is default behavior for form submissions in HubSpot, as long as you're using a HubSpot form.
In the form editor options tab, you can specify who should be notified about the new submission.
Not a stupid question at all! What you're describing is doable without needing a tech degree. HubSpot has built-in forms that can capture prospect data and create/update contact and company records automatically. You can also set up workflow automation to notify the sales manager when a new lead arrives. If you want to go beyond basic lead capture and automate more advanced lead routing (such as round-robin distribution, availability-based assignments, or territory-based rules), HubSpot's native workflow automation has limitations. That’s where lead distribution tools like LeadAngel can help by making routing more dynamic and efficient.
So, for basic automation, HubSpot's native features are enough, but for more complex lead distribution, a specialized tool might be needed.
