Views are such a cool basic feature but why oh why does HS team insist on making them harder to use. Once upon a time it was possible to just save your current filters as a new View. Now, you must choose to create a new view before changing filters and saving it. This is not how discovery of useful filters works - you use filters and then you realize, hey, this combination is useful to save. Why can't they get this right and why was this changed in the first place??
I might be wrong, and although I understand and share the frustration of the simple "save" option being unavailable, whenever you hit clone and save, does it not save it with the filters and changes you have applied? I might be biased because I am a super admin most of the times.
I tend to:
add my filters
change my columns
hit clone and save
It's definitely a case of HubSpot having "verschlimmbessert" (I love that German word) something, that worked okay before. 🙄

Views are broken
SOLVE
EDIT: Wow, I just realized the Clone button is right there. I just associate the icon with copying the content on page. Not cloning it. And in this page most options are verbal, which can result in icon based choices to be unnoticed.
"To help overcome the ambiguity that almost all icons face, a text label must be present alongside an icon to clarify its meaning in that particular context. (And even if you’re using a standard icon, it’s often safer to include a label, especially if you slightly altered the icon to match your aesthetic preferences or constraints.)
Icon labels should be visible at all times, without any interaction from the user. For navigation icons, labels are particularly critical. Don’t rely on hover to reveal text labels: not only does it increase the interaction cost, but it also fails to translate well on touch devices."
I would therefore add a text label next to the icon, and still would allow people to simply save the filtered read-only view as new if they want.
Thanks for the replies. Yes it's been like that for awhile which means the UX has been deteriorated for awhile 😄 I also find it unintuitive to need to clone and then save. Most people don't even know cloning is possible, as it's hidden in the All Views tab. Most people open HS and are overwhelmed by the number of links and possible destinations, they're not all HS consultants like us.

Which time frame are you talking about? The current behaviour has been like that for quite a while now.
And yes, correct, the "All [records]" view has to be cloned first, all other views should offer the option to save directly - overwriting whatever the settings were before in that particular view.
In any case, if you want the UI and steps to change, the best place for those requests would be the HubSpot Ideas section of the community. This is the user-to-user part of the community.
Best regards!
