Updating custom date properties

I've created a few custom contact date properties that I want to dynamically update when my deal is closed, however the only option is to change them to a fixed date. I'm not able to select either "copy from deal close" or "increase / decrease property value"

Does your workflow run on the same date that you want to copy to the contact? I.e. the close date? In which case, would setting the property to the current date when the step runs work for your use case? Or are you trying to pass another date?
