Updating 'Last Contacted' when forwarding an email.

SOLVE

Hello, 

I have an issue. While forwarding an email to xxx@forward.hubspot.com 'last contacted' field is not being updated. It is really important for our team to keep this property up to date. 

Could you please help, how can I forward an email to save my previous conversation with a customer and keep 'last contacted' updated?

I hear you @Romelashvili, however it is NOT a bug.

 

"Last Contacted is based on when the event actually took place as recorded and set automatically by HubSpot based on user actions in the contact record."

Intended HubSpot behavior.

Q: Updating 'Last Contacted' when forwarding an email?

 

Short A: Only updates if email 'forwarding' is TO the contact.

 

Longer A:

The Last Contacted property only updates when certain activities occur within HubSpot. (very important)

- see What's the difference between the "Last Contacted" and "Last Activity Date" contact properties?

Hi Frank, 

Thank you very much for your reply.
Unfortunately, that doesn't solve my problem. 
Example: I am forwarding email from June 2018 to xxx@forward.hubspot.com. 'Last contacted' in company's record stays blanc (as I never contacted this company after switching to Hubspot). 

I feel like it's just a bug and my problem will stay unsolved 😕

I also am having issues with the last activity and next activity dates. It would be very helpful if I could know what actually changes both. In othe words what action does cause the dates to change.

 

Please explain how these dates do work, as opposed to telling us what does not work.

SOLVE

Hi- I have the Hubspot email logged extension installed properly on gmail, but I use apple mail. Does this mean that last contacted won't populate?

 

Obviously all my emails go through gmail as my email address is orig. from Gmail, but I'm just using apple mail as my client.
