Update a property based on today's date

SOLVE

Hello,

I'm trying to update a text property depending on today's date.

I have three properties : Date1, Date2 and Status (Date2 is always after Date1).

Status needs to change depending on today's date.

Here's an example :

- Let's say Date1 is 05/11/2023 and Date2 is 25/11/2023 (format dd/mm/yyyy). Today's date is 04/11/2023, Status is "Before" (it's the default value).

- One day passes, is is now 05/11/2023. Status value needs to change and become "Now".

- Some days passes and it is now 26/11/2023. Status value needs to change and become "After".

I tried things like doing a "Today's Date" property and trigering a workflow when this property = Date1 for example, but it doesn't work well.

Do you guys know a way to do this?

Update a property based on today's date

SOLVE

Hi @SBRILLOUET,

This can be done two ways, either using scheduled, daily recurring workflow (available in Operations Hub Professional) or using a today's date property.

With the former option, you'd enroll all records where date 1 and date 2 are known and set up the workflow to run every day.

With the latter option, you'd re-enroll the record whenever today's date changes (re-enrollment based on today's day = known).

You would then create a branch to check the following:

  • Date 1 is more than 0 days from now:  Set property value to 'Before'
  • Date 1 is more than 0 days ago and Date 2 is more than 0 from now: Set property value to 'Now'
  • Date 2 is more than 0 days ago: Set property value to 'Before

For the part behind the colon, use the 'Set property value' workflow action.

That should already be it.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

Hello and thank you for your answer. I'm sorry for my late response.

I will try to make a Today's Date property as i don't have Operations Hub Professional.

Do you have a way to make that property?
