Unique Identifiers

Hello,

We have a custom property on the contact level of that is unique for each contact. Is it possible for this field to be used as the unique identifier when we do imports? this field will be included in all imports and is our source of truth. When we do imports it doesn't allow this field to be the record ID.

Hi @cclark2,

The record ID is not something that can be mapped to anything else than the actual record ID: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/deduplication-of-records?hubs_content=knowledge.hubspot.com/im...

You can however simply map your custom unique property during import, see here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/understand-the-import-tool

Custom property that requires unique values: if you've created a property that requires unique values, you can use the property as a unique identifier in your import files. This is supported for contacts, companies, deals, tickets, appointments, courses, listings, services, and custom objects.

In the mapping step, in the HubSpot property column, it should show up with a key icon.
