I create the monthly newsletter for a neurogastroenterology journal using HubSpot. We wish to our newsletter send to members of European societies. However, due to GDPR and even stricter privacy protection policies by the journal publisher, we are unable to send emails directly to society members, even with the GDPR functionality turned on.
What the societies have proposed is that we provide them a link that they can include in their next newsletter (different from ours) such that clicking on the link will add the member to our HubSpot contact list. Because of the automatically sending of their newsletter, they require this "link" by Friday, December 18. My supervisor does not want to miss this deadline.
Contacts which are not yet in your CRM cannot be added to your database by clicking a link. You'd have to use a form to capture the contact information (at least the email address, it's the unique identifier for contacts in HubSpot). If GDPR compliance matters, you should also consider documenting the consent of the soon-to-be recipients of your newsletter to process their data and send them communications. Forms come with default checkbox options for that which you can use.
