Hello everyone! We have come accross this question regularly and I was wondering what is the best practice in your experience. When dealing with companies that play a third party role in the CRM (as distributors, partners, ...) do you rather : use type property, use association label or create a custom object ? (or all ;)). I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Thank you for reaching out! Managing third-party companies like distributors or partners in your CRM can be done in a few different ways, depending on your needs.
Using association labels, will allow you to define the roles and relationships between records. For example, you can label a company as a "Partner" or "Distributor" in relation to other records. It’s a flexible method that makes it easy to filter and manage records based on these relationships.
Using the Type property, which is a simpler way to categorize companies. This is ideal if you just need basic segmentation without the complexity of tracking detailed relationships.
If you require something more customized, custom objects might be the right solution. This allows you to create specific data structures for third-party roles that may have unique attributes or need specialized reporting.
These methods can be used individually or combined depending on the complexity of your CRM setup and your needs. If you have specific requirements for the third-party role, feel free to share more details, and we can discuss on the best approach that can be done for the same , Happy to guide you through the process.
If this helps, feel free to mark it as the solution ✔️and give it an upvote 👍!
