Searching a merged company record ID via search

Can it be made possible for users to be able to search a merged record ID via the search bar?

Background:

New Account managers may be provided a list from external sources (i.e., billing exports or predecessor's excel sheets) with outdated Record ID.  It would be great if they can just do a search and it brings them to the record - which avoids the user making a new/duplicate company. 

Current state:

Often times we find incorrect company names and/or other information prior to merging records which it makes it hard for users and other cross functional teams to come in quickly and access the record, and any attachments they made need to proceed with thier task.

Currently, no, this is not possible via the search bar. You could however request this in the HubSpot Ideas section of the community: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/idb-p/HubSpot_Ideas

As far as workarounds go, you could create a custom single-line text property, make it searchable...

... and have a workflow copy over the record ID into this new custom single-line text property.
