Rolling Timeframes

SOLVE

I feel like it's once per week that we are trying to automate something based on the "previous month" or "month to date", and HubSpot does not have options. I can't believe this isn't an option, i must be missing something.

For example, I am currently trying to set up a list of all contacts associated with deals that closed last month. Simple.

Except, when you select "last month" it just locks in the current prior month as the date range. When we roll into the next month, it remains locked in the date range of 2 months ago.

We constantly run into the same issues with reports and other lists we need to make. I find it hard to believe that this isn't an option- the vast majority of businesses report on a monthly basis. Am I missing something?

@dmurphy623  I apologize, I missed the keyword in your question (list).

You could set up one workflow that adds contacts to a static list based on the trigger for close date known (and/or closed won).

Then you could set up a second workflow that removes a contact from the static list centered on the date property of recent deal close date after 30 days.

So the list wouldn't be everyone who closed in a set month (like March), but it would be everyone that closed in the previous 30 days.

Hi @dmurphy623  that is very strange, I have been using "last month" since I built my first dashboard and never had it lock into a time frame, it is rolling, exactly as you would expect it to be.

If you choose a custom range, it will lock it in for that range, but the last month, last quarter, etc. have always updated automatically in the portals I've worked in.

Thanks for the reply. The dashboard is the one place I don't have an issue.

But we are trying to use HubSpot to automate things- in this case, I need a list of all contacts that closed a deal in the prior month. But it only works if we edit the list and adjust the timeframe each month- there's no way to make a rolling date range on lists. At least that's what HubSpot support has told me.

Interesting- 30 days is actually already an option, so I wouldn't need those extra steps. Unfortunately I do need it to be based on the actual month.

However- I had not considered using the workflow to generate the list itself, so maybe there's a solution in there.

thanks for the tip, I'll reply back if I find a solution!

yes, 30 days is already an option, I was just trying to flip it around to see if it would work, maybe I ended up in a circle...🤔
