Resubscribe an unsubscribed address

Is there an easy way to resubscribe a contact on their behalf e.g. if the contact rings up and asks to be resubscribed, how can we do this for them without causing hassle for the customer e.g. asking them to find an old email. If they have been unsubscribed in the past, how can we get the Hubspot system to change their status from "unsubscribed from all marketing"?

Thanks,

Gemma

Short A: No. Not gonna happen.

Longer A:

While we're sure it's technically possible to segregate the HubSpot EU client base from HubSpot clients in the rest of the world, the global marketing pendulum is shifting towards GDPR-like-compliance.

Also, while not technically 'illegal', even thinking of allowing the client base to circumvent the unsubscription mechanism on behalf of subscribers (for any reason) is bad practice. Circumventing unsubscribe system protections and double opt-in best practices is precisely how spammers continue to flood our inboxes with ...

Enough said.

Sure HubSpotters may chime in here with 'orange answers', but the bottom line is the same ... not gonna happen.

The thing is our client base is older, so they often call up with requests like this.  I would not say that this is bad practice in this regard, as the customer has provided permission and asked for the resubscription. So it is a bit annoying that we will never be ble to do this manually.

Also regarding our system we were actually hoping that Hubspot will come up with a resubscription API at some point, that we can connect to our form. As the form we have on our website allows customers to opt back in again, and we need to get this connection sorted to make it viable incase an unsubscribed customer opts back in.

You could always use a HubSpot embedded form on your non-HubSpot website to allow re-opt-in, but that's a totally different conversation.

- see How to set up resubscription emails for forms and lead flows

Hope it helps solve your issue.

That link isn't very helpful. The resubscribe option isn't even there anymore

No, this link is not helpful to me either as our web developers have built a fully functioning form on our website already, and it is not an option to use an embedded hubspot form....
