Require unique value for two deal properties

解決

Hi all,

I ran into a problem regarding deal property settings. I am trying to mandate a value input rule, requiring different/unique value for two deal properties. E.g. "student email" & "parent email" should have different values.

I tried to click on "require unique value for this property", but it says that's only available for selection when creating the property, not for existing property. Is there a way to work around with this?

Require unique value for two deal properties

Hi @XiShen ,

In this scenario, I would create a new custom property "Student Email - " (the dash makes the label unique) and configure settings to require values to be unique.

Then, you can use a workflow to set the values for the new property based upon the values that already exist in the database using the "copy" funtion.  In the same workflow, you'll clear the value of that property after you have copied it.

You'll also need to modify any existing reports or automations that use the student email property so they use the new property.

You'll want to check your workflow errors as well, because any cases of non-unique values will show up there and you can fix those manually.

Once that is done, you can delete the old property.  Then, change your label to get rid of the dash and now you have a new property that requires uniqe values.
