Receiving Email in Use Error

SOLVE

I'm getting an email in use message error. It was originally set with another contact and I changed the email on that contact. This page was linked to from the error message: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/contacts/why-cant-i-save-a-new-email-address-for-.... I seem to be in the second of the two reasons. I'd like to fix this without having to completely exchange all the information in the two contacts or delete and re-add.
