Parent & Child companies in businesses with branch networks

SOLVE

The parent / child companies feature is causing me issues as the branches in the companies I am trying to link to a parent have the same URL as the parent, so they don't appear as separate to be able to link them up. I want them to be separate as we may get one branch ordering from us and one not, so they may be at a different point in terms of lead status.  Even if I dissassociate a contact and company, when I add in a contact email address, it is automatically associated with the parent company.  I imagine this is a common issue with retailers / wholesalers where branches all have the same URL

Any help?

Hi @BMarketing

The automatic company creation and associatation function doesnt work well with large multi- national or branch companies becuase it is driven totally by domain name.

Your only option really is to turn off this feature and manually create branch company records and associate the relevant contacts with them.

This feels backward, I know, but I get the impression it is what a lot of larger sales teams are used to when using systems like Salesforce.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Phil. I think that will do it for me. I hadn;t realised that you can switch the tool on & off for individual URL's which helps as I wasn;t keen to switch off altogether.
